Chandigarh, India, Thursday, March 15, 2007 (InfoMailers.com):: A 4-member team of ophthalmologists representing Grewal Eye Institute (GEI), the premier comprehensive Eye Care Institute based at Chandigarh, has returned to Chandigarh after participating in the 4-day Asia ARVO Meet 2007 of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) from March 2-5, 2007 at Singapore. The GEI team, led by its CEO Dr. SPS Grewal, presented 3 Papers and 3 Posters on Pioneering Research Work done by GEI at the Asia ARVO Meet 2007, the largest and most comprehensive research meeting in the field of ophthalmology and vision in the world.
Also ARVO awarded Dr Rajeev Jain, from GEI, with their prestigious Travel Fellowship, an award targeted at young investigators who present high quality research findings and show potential for future significant research accomplishments.
Returning to Chandigarh Dr Grewal said, "The 2007 Asia ARVO Meet is the biggest platform to present and witness the most cutting edge research done in our field. The GEI team consisting of Dr SPS Grewal, Dr Dilraj Singh, Dr Ajay Aurora and Dr Rajeev Jain presented 3 Free Papers on 1) A New, Safe Technique For Stable Fixation of Scleral Fixated Intra-Ocular Lens; One paper in Retina Field, 2) Quantitative Evaluation Of Changes In Anterior Segment Biometry Following Peripheral Laser Iridotomy Using Scheimpflug Imaging In Eyes With Primary Angle Closure and 3) Predictive Value Of Anterior Chamber Volume On Scheimpflug Imaging In Eyes With Narrow Angle. The first paper pertained to the Retina while the other two papers were in Glaucoma Field.
The Team also presented 3 Posters 1) Surgical Management of a Long Existing Dry Retinal Fold, 2) Evaluation Of Disc Area and Axial Length Influence on Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness; and 3) Comparison of Pre-Operative Intravitreal Bevacizumab Combined Pars Plana Vitrectomy and IOL Implantation as a Combination Procedure Compared to Pars Plana Vitrectomy With IOL Implantation alone in Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy, at the meet.
